2003 Reunion Highlights
Washington D.C.

The third reunion of the 213th Assault Support Helicopter Alumni Association began with an evening dinner at the Holiday Inn National Airport Hotel. Old friends caught up and new ones were made.

Day two started with an early morning group breakfast and a free day to explore Washington, DC and the surrounding area.

Dinner was held at Phillips Flagship Restaurant, which overlooks the Potomac River and the Yacht club. Good food and a good time were had by all. Aside from an almost endless display of food on their buffet the staff of Phillips Flagship went out of their way to ensure the 213th members were catered to, and wanted for nothing. The staff of Phillips Flagship provided both an excellent seafood buffet and a dining experience. This was followed by an evening get together at the Holiday Inn.

Day three started with a group breakfast and than a free day to continue exploring the Washington, DC area. The evening group dinner found the 213th at the America Restaurant, located in Union Station, followed by free time to shop and explore the station shops before taking the metro back to our hotel and the usual evening get together.

Day four began as usual by a group breakfast but was followed by a full day and evening guided tour of Washington, DC monuments and sites. If you have never experienced the monuments of Washington, DC it is high time you did. Nothing can explain or better characterize the impact these monuments can have than an up-close and personal visit. Our visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial found the 213th members paying tribute to fallen comrades from all years by laying a wreath with their names at the memorial. Even the rain could not dissuade the other visitors to the wall from silently joining in our memorial service.

Dinner was in Georgetown at Tony and Joe's on the scenic Potomac River. Dinner was followed by a tour of Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and a view of the district from the roof of this impressive building. The evening ended with a tour of the unique Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial located on the tidal basin between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorial.

Sunday morning began with the usual group breakfast and farewells to old and new friends until the next reunion to be held in 2004.

Hope to see you all then.

I wanted to say a few words of thanks to Eric and Lorinda of Sunset Cruises for their time and energy in developing a great reunion. This reunion could not have been as well organized or eventful without the tireless efforts of Mike and Nancy Brown.
